Educational and Fun go hand in hand:  The Montessori Spindle Box is an essential material that will improve children’s mathematical abilities.  Maria Montessori identified the mathematical ability as one of the five key areas a child needs to develop in their fast-changing cognitive process.

The spindle box represents the introduction to more concrete and abstract areas such as addition and subtraction, so it gives the child the opportunity to understand how numerals work. This item encourages the child to associate different numbers with specific quantities in real life by completing the task of introducing the right quantity of spindles into the correct compartment.

Associating symbols such as numbers with specific quantities can be a concept difficult to understand for a child, so the spindle box allows them to make this association directly by using real-life materials. According to Dr.Montessori, the best way for a child to develop their cognitive process is completing real-life tasks that are useful and have a specific purpose. The product allows them to learn mathematical concepts through a real-life activity, which enhances their comprehension of such concepts.

Why buy this item: The Montessori Spindle Box is an essential tool that allows the child to familiarize with numerals and how these symbols represent a quantity of objects in real life. This abstract concept can be challenging for a child, so the spindle box is an excellent way to introduce the child into mathematics.

Children will usually follow instructions, so after setting the activity correctly and demonstrating how it is done; children can become more independent by completing the task by themselves.

Once they have finally understood how numerals work and how they represent specific quantities in real life, the child will be ready for more abstract concepts such as addition and subtraction. The spindle box represents the perfect introduction to the world of mathematics by enhancing children’s comprehension of numbers and quantities.
